A warm welcome to you. This is our pledge to our environment.
We at the Shadzz Motel and Conference Centre work hard to support this beautiful area of the Manawatu by undertaking a number of actions. Many of these you will not see, but some you may notice.
Some of these actions are:
Key cards in all units which switch off appliances when you are out.
We offer a towel and linen change agreement which ensures you're reducing energy and water use.
We buy local produce where possible to reduce transport emissions.
A clothesline to dry your washing.
We regularly upgrade appliances to energy-efficient models.
Flat screen or LCD televisions in all units help reduce power usage.
Low-energy light bulbs are used to replace existing blown light bulbs in the units.
Energy-efficient timers are installed on exterior lighting equipment.
We give you the opportunity to recycle your rubbish by
providing a recycling bin in your room.
We have a sign posted Recycling Centre by the Clothesline.
Reduce the amount of waste going to the landfill by separating it for recycling.
Use both sides of our photocopy paper in the office.
Paperless check in registration for our regular guests.
Giving our guests the option as to whether they wish to receive a newspaper.
Using only water-efficient washing machines.
Having dual flush toilets in all our units.
Supplying Recycled Luxury Toilet paper in all units.
Using only naturally vegetable based toiletry products.
Planting trees and shrubs native to this area which encourage bird life and reduce the need for irrigation .
Donating time and prizes to the local school to support our local community.
Offering employment opportunities to local residents first, if possible.
